Countdown to the Beatles "1" DVD/CD - What's in store, part 7 of 7: Some final thoughts

With the release date of the "Beatles 1" and "1+" DVDs coming on Friday, this is the last of our seven advance looks of what you'll find. (You can see the rest of this series and check out all of our coverage of the new release at this link.)

Our review of the set that we posted Wednesday wraps up many of the details we haven't mentioned in this series. But a couple of final thoughts. It's good to see "Free As a Bird" and "Real Love" here. As we note in the review, "Real Love" has some changes that are quite interesting. And "From Me To You," now in mono on the CD after being in stereo in 2009, can only be because it's in mono on the first DVD. The mixes do present some interesting moments (like the guitar at the beginning of "The Ballad of John and Yoko" video that stands out more than before). Overall, though, things sound great. We've been enjoying the CD mixes especially. You will, too.

Some news: The reports of possible delivery problems from Amazon.co.uk have been cleared up. Everyone is getting what they ordered and on time. The problem was caused by erroneous emails sent by Amazon. However, the reports that Australian shipments are being delayed roughly a week are apparently true because of late deliveries from overseas. According to the unconfirmed report, this affects all the configurations with the exceptions of the stand-alone CD and DVD, though this doesn't completely make sense why they would be unaffected. Still, if you're in Australia and you don't get your delivery on Friday, this apparently is the reason.

You can order the DVD,CD or both at this link. Versions for the U.S., the UK, Germany, Japan and Canada can be ordered there. And, again, don't miss our review of the full set on Examiner.com. For another view of the set, check out our "Things We Said Today" partner Allan Kozinn's review on the Wall Street Journal site.

Finally, thanks for reading this series. We hope you have enjoyed it. Look for more of our Beatles coverage here and on Examiner.com, where we also have columns for Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. Please follow us here and subscribe to our Beatles Examiner column

And when you're Beatles shopping, be sure to check out our That's What I Want Beatles store at Amazon.com and our UK That's What I Want Beatles store at Amazon.co.uk. We'd appreciate it if you'd bookmark them and visit them often, especially for the upcoming holiday season.
